Hi, I'm Roz & I set up Rosalyn's Emporium in 2016 with the aim of sharing my love of craft skills, particularly making
precious jewellery.
An Art Foundation course in Brighton introduced me to basic metalworking techniques for the first time.
I then learnt how to make a silver ring during an evening course & was completely hooked.
In 1997 I started a degree in Designed Metalwork & Jewellery.
I graduated with a BA First-Class Honours 3 years later.
In 2001 I made my first pair of wedding rings
for my sister & brother-in-law.
The experience & privilege of making such special jewellery in precious metals was inspirational.
This opened the doors for more requests & years later I have
made many different wedding rings for family, friends & clients.
My favourite wedding ring commissions were always the ones when the couple saw their own wedding rings being made.
Seeing their faces change from doubt to amazement as the metal was hammered, soldered, filed, buffed & polished into a finished wedding ring was wonderful & never becomes boring.
Making jewellery was always a hobby until now & after university I pursued a career in visual merchandising. This satisfied my love of retail & window dressing, requiring a multitude of
creative disciplines as well as business acumen.
Following a 13 year role as a head office based Visual Merchandiser for a large high street jewellery & watch retailer I was made redundant. This gave me the opportunity to set up my own business & share my love for uniquely crafted items with other people.
I am a member of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery & have won a number of design awards from other jewellery bodies.
As well as my degree I am JET 1 qualified
(Jewellery Education & Training). I've completed a basic stone setting & wax carving course in order to update my skill set.
My husband & I have 2 young children
(oh, & a beast of a cat)!
